Music Video

Create a music video using the music from your Notation project.

Overview

Create a music video (one piece of music seamless throughout) using the music from your Notation project and including all of the components listed below. Edit your recordings using DaVinci Resolve. You may perform on someone else's project, but everyone must record and edit completely separate projects.

The goal here is to capture image and sound at the highest quality possible

For at least part of the project, you must use high quality DSLR or mirrorless cameras and external microphones (better than the ones that come on Zoom recorders). For parts of the video you may use your own gear (cell phone, audio interface, etc.).

Proposal Assignment

Type up and print out a Proposal to turn in at the beginning of class on the due date. Include the following:

  1. What music will you be using (this will be the same for this project and the Notation Project)

  2. What musicians do you need for your video?

  3. What are your filming locations?

  4. What will you film during class?

  5. What will you film outside of class?

  6. What parts of the music do you plan to film for each component? (split-screen, multi-screen, multi-camera, green screen, screen video capture)

  7. How do you plan to get all recordings to align perfectly later? ... there are many ways, here are a couple:

    • use a metronome in your ear

    • listen to the first part you record in headphones as you record the second part ... and so on.

Final Video Requirements

You must include all of the following components in your music video:

  1. Split-Screen

  2. Multi-Screen

  3. Multi-Camera

    • watch professional orchestra recordings for examples

    • Recording = 3 video cameras recording simultaniously

  4. green screen

  5. screen video capture

  6. text overlay

  7. still photo

  8. embed on your W3Schools website (after editing and uploading to YouTube)
