The key learning outcome is: gain guided experience properly using Dorico and MuseScore most efficiently and effectively. In my opinion, Dorico is the best professional notation software. Depending on your future needs, you may decide it is worth the money to purchase Dorico rather than use MuseScore ... I want you to be able to make an informed decision based on experience.
input 8 linear measures of a score that is a trio or larger into Dorico (it muse be in the public domain)
input 8 *different* linear measures of the same work into MuseScore
for both Dorico and MuseScore = you must input notes using the MIDI keyboard and find ways to avoid using the mouse
Check out imslp.org for public domain pieces for your project!

So, for notation software = it's all about the caret!
